Lois: Mrs Kent!

Lois hugs strongly hugs Martha.

Martha: Oh Lois, please you…
Lois: Sorry…
Martha: It’s just I don’t know what is broke and what is not…
Lana: Mrs. Kent I’m happy to see you again.
Martha: Thanks… Lois I need you, and you’re Lana you can help too.
Lois: How.
Martha: I… because of my accident, I lose memory, but I remember all things. I remember to you both when I saw some photos but… I can’t remember to Lionel, I have just one memory.
Lana: When you was with him with this torturer.
Martha: No, no it wasn’t this… torturer? Ok… I going make coffees… we need to talk…


Lana and Lois had told to Martha all that they know about her and Lionel kidnapping.
Lois: Do you remember anything now?
Martha: I… huh… some things yes… but not Lionel.
Lana: Try to remember.
Martha: How… I was on this huh… vat.
Lois: After?

Martha doesn’t reply to her.

Martha: It wasn’t the first time. When thieves wanted to open Lionel’s coffer. We were alone with them… because of his son… Lex…
Lionel: Clark told that you were here…
Lois: We should go now…

Lois and Lana let Martha and Lionel alone. Lionel was behind Martha but she doesn’t turn around for see him.

Martha: I try to remember… but I told it’s complicated. I don’t know you but, I know that I’m in love with you.
Lionel: Are you sure?
Martha: I am. I have lie to you, the day where you came here… I had told you that we were never more than just good friends…
Lionel: You remember to this?
Martha: I remember a lot of things, the days where we were alone with the torturer, or with the thieves. I remember how you take care about me.
Lionel: You are so important for me.
Martha: You are in my memories but…

Martha stands up and looks at Lionel’s eyes. She approaches her lips to his. Their breathings are overcome but Martha moves back.

Martha: I remember to this, but it’s you who didn’t kiss me… why?
Lionel: I had not wanted to hurt you…
Martha: It wasn’t for Lillian?
Lionel: No, Lillian is… waiting, you know who Lillian is?
Martha: Your first wife, I… Oh my god Yes! Wait… huh… black coffee without sugar, it’s like that you drink coffee… To Martha, with deep affection LL, the watch…

Martha start to laugh, a lot of memories is coming. Martha and Lionel walk out of the Talon, his limousine was here.

Martha: Lionel! I remember the day when I do to Washington, you were with me to the airport, and it was so sweet. I had cry. I cry too when (she loses her smile)… When you was hurting by an explosion…
Lionel: Hi.
Martha: Hi…

Martha goes into Lionel arms.

Martha: I was so devastated when I saw you like that…
Lionel: I was so scared after you accident… I love you… Oh my god… I’m finally telling these words to you… I must be dreaming.
Martha: Oh no you’re not.

Martha smiles, she opens the door of the limousine and they go into the car.

Lionel: Alan, at the farm Kent, pleases…
Martha: No! to metropolis.
Lionel: Why do you want to go to metropolis?
Martha: I don’t need it but… we need to time.
Lionel: For what?
Martha: For an other dream…

Martha passionately kisses Lionel and now her mouth is sliding on his neck.

Lionel: Now? Here?
Martha: it’s pressing…

Martha takes away her blouse.

Lionel: Alan can you let we some privacy?

Alan, the driver, smiles and closes the window behind him. He turns on the radio and starts to run.

Lionel waited for Martha and they go to the Farm together. Martha makes some coffee.


Lionel: So, Will you stay to Washington for the next four years?
Martha: Why four years?
Lionel: Will you stay for a new mandate?
Martha: no.
Lionel: What?!
Martha: I don’t want this, because huh… Lionel, I was a farmer just two years ago! And now I’m working at the White House!
Lionel: You don’t like Washington.
Martha: I don’t. It’s too big for me. I just need… a home, my son and my friends, and you Lionel.
Lionel: I’m not your friend?
Martha: Of course you are! …So I don’t return to Washington I stay at Smallville now.
Lionel: Really?

Martha smiles to him and drinks the last drop of her coffee.

Martha: It’s a very hot day, Have you see this sun!
Lionel: Yes. I think we should profit from it.
Martha: You’re right.

Martha and Lionel go out of the house.

Martha: Do you want to walk around the Crater Lake?
Lionel: Why not.

Martha and Lionel start to walk. They continues to speak but not about Washington. Lionel says some jokes, and Martha laugh at them.

Lionel see a little flower on the ground, He takes it and gives it to Martha. Martha laughs and takes it.

Martha: Thanks.
Lionel: You don’t know how I missed you, Martha.
Martha: I think I know, because I missed you too. Oh! And I didn’t call Lois! It’s don’t matter I will call her tonight.
They continue to walk and they arrive to a beautiful place on a beach.


Martha: Hey, Do you want to swing?
Lionel: (laugh) now? Are you serious?
Martha: I am, it’s a very hot day and I need to move a little, I hate plane!

Martha advance to a pontoon. She starts to put away her chemise and her skirt.

Lionel mischievously looks at her. She dives on the water.

Martha: Come on! It’s very good.

Lionel takes away his clothes and rejoins Martha on the water.

Martha: Can you swim faster?
Lionel: Of course!
Martha: We will see that. The first who touches the pontoon.
Lionel: Okay. 3…2…

Martha starts to swim now, laughing.

Lionel: cheat!

Lionel swims faster and takes Martha by her waist. They laugh together. Martha tries to continue to swim but Lionel doesn’t let her go.

Martha waters Lionel and he let her for waters her too. Martha swim under the water and she stay a moment on the water. Lionel starts to be worried and he takes Martha’s hands and makes her go back on the surface.

Lionel: Are you alright?!
Martha: Of course I am! Don’t worry.
Lionel: I’m sorry, it’s just… I remember the day when you almost… drowned.
Martha: Oh. You take care of me… So sweet... (She smiles)
Lionel: Don’t laugh at me! I was very afraid.
Martha: And do you know what I fell when you ask me to kill you for save my life.
Lionel: I don’t.
Martha: I said to myself, where I will find the force to kill the only man who makes me forget Jonathan, the man who I’m in love with?

Lionel strangely looks at Martha. She gives him a lovely smile, Lionel smiles to her too. Martha is going to kiss him.

It’s an incredible sweet kiss. Lionel let his hands slide on Martha’s shoulders and waist. Martha let hers slide on his musculature which always charm her.

Martha: It’s sure… I will never return to Washington.

It was a lovely evening. Lionel and Martha coming back to Metropolis. Martha was guest to a charity gala and she gone there with Lionel. Martha was wearing a write dress, with her red hair resting freely against her shoulders. It was very late, Lionel and her start to be tired. Martha looks at the diamond watch which Lionel had offer some hours before.

Martha: It’s strange; we had to arrive one hour ago…
Lionel: Maybe.
Martha: It doesn’t matter but, I just need to sleep now.

Martha and Lionel smile and Lionel pass his arm behind Martha and she put her head on his shoulder. The driver opens the window which separates him from them.

Driver: I’m sorry Mr. Luthor for the lateness.
Lionel: Drive faster.
Martha (murmuring): He’s a new driver?
Lionel: No, Alan was sick. Something is wrong?
Martha: Nothing.

Martha was sure to know this voce, but she doesn’t remember where she had heard it. Suddenly, all of the car doors close. Lionel tries to open the door next to him but it doesn’t get open.

Lionel: What happen, why did you enclose us?
Driver: Sorry Lionel. Now, there is no mercy.
Lionel: Please god, no again!
Driver: I lose the last time, it’s couldn’t be possible. I don’t know how you survive but now it will be less easy.
Martha: Oh god. Take over, Apex… tell me it’s a bad joke Lionel!
Lionel: I know who you are now, Lincoln Kole! You will die in prison after this!
Lincoln Kole: It doesn’t matter, if you both are dead. I’m sorry senator.

The man gets out of the car and opens the door next to Martha. He takes her by her arm.

Lionel: Don’t touch her!

The man put a gun in front of Lionel.

Kole: Don’t move.

The man takes out a syringe of his pocket and stacked the needle on her neck. Martha collapses on the ground.

Lionel: Martha…
Kole: and it’s your turn.

Martha wakes up on a dark room. Her hands were attached on her back and a rope tightens her neck. She doesn’t touch the ground; it was just a plank under her feet which keep her up. Martha sees Lionel elongated on the floor.

Martha: Lionel? Lionel, dear, do you hear me?

Lionel opens his eyes and abruptly getting up. Lionel looks at the hanged woman in front of him.

Lionel: Are you alright?
Martha: I am… it’s just I’m afraid…
Kole: You can to be afraid.

A screen turns on and the man appears without his mask.

Lionel: What’s happen now? What do I must to do for save her?
Kole: There is a knife in the coffer.
Lionel: How I open it!
Kole: swim…

A light switch on above a pond. Lionel start to walk next to it but his foot broke a line on the ground. Martha hears a nose under her, a time-switch.

Kole: There is a combination on the water, but there is a number that you can’t see… but the Senator Kent can help you, but you haven’t a lot of time. You have one minute for find the combination after the plank fall down. After that… it’s depend of the Senator.

Lionel doesn’t think about this he dive on the water and start to shears a number.
Martha looks at Lionel on the deep pond. After a moment Lionel get out of the water.

Lionel: I found it, it’s an 8.
Martha: There is an other number to find. You can’t see it.
Lionel: Maybe it’s up, and you can see it.

Lionel tries to find anything on the ceiling.

Martha: I don’t see anything… wait!
Lionel: You find something?
Martha: Lionel, turn around!
Lionel: What?
Martha: There is something on the nape of your neck!

Lionel turns around and Martha tries to watch the number.
Martha: I think it’s a five!
Lionel: ok.

Lionel tries to open the coffer but it doesn’t.

Kole: You forget an other number.
Martha: Lionel, you miss a number on the water.
Lionel: Crap!

Lionel was going to dive again on the water but he hears a cry of Martha and a metallic noise. The plank was down. Martha was hanging by her neck. She doesn’t move. Lionel dive on the water; he looks everywhere and finally find a 3. Lionel gets out of the water and run to the coffer. He opens it and gets the knife. Lionel cut the rope which hanged Martha. Martha drops down on the ground. She ardently coughs.
Lionel hangs Martha.

Lionel: I’m so sorry… Martha.
Martha: You save me… you…

Martha curls up on Lionel arms.

Kole: Great, Great! We can play to an other game now…

Martha: What’s happen now?

A picture appears on the screen instead of Lincoln Kole. It’s a strange radiography. There is a key on the picture.

Martha: What is it?
Kole: Radiography of Mr. Luthor’s belly radiography. This key opens the door behind you. There isn’t an other game after… and there is just the Senator Kent who can be free.
Martha: You lie!

Martha is very afraid; she starts to understand what she must to do. She get up with Lionel and looks at him.

Kole: I don’t. The knife which saves you will save you again. It’s his fault if you are here.
Martha: no.
Lionel: Martha, I’m sorry…
Martha: Don’t be! Lionel I have a very horrible presentiment. I sure you will not as lucky as the last time.
Kole: You will not…
Martha: I want you to know anything, because I don’t know if we will alive after that I…
Lionel: We will! Martha, don’t worry.
Martha: Lionel, please listen to me!
Lionel: You will not die, I promise you!
Kole: Please… It’s length. Tell to him that what he wants and we can continue.
Martha (doesn’t care about Kole): The things changes between us… I…

Martha kisses Lionel to represent the words which she couldn’t say.

Kole: It would be a bit more difficult now, Senator.

Martha looks at Lionel’s reaction. He doesn’t reply to her and takes her in his arms.

Lionel: Why do you tell me this now! Martha…
Martha (crying): I’m sorry, Lionel… I…
Kole: Shit! Senator! Take the knife and take the key on his body!
Martha: I will not.
Lionel: Martha!
Martha: I can’t hurt you, Lionel! I love you, if you’re not satisfied to that, it’s your problem!
Lionel: I love you too, and I want you to live, with your son, happy.
Martha: I will not without you, I wasn’t to Washington.
Kole: You have 3 minutes.
Martha: What happen if I don’t do anything?
Kole: You will see…

The screen turns off. Lionel takes the knife on the ground.

Martha: What are you doing? I can’t hurt you.
Lionel: But you must.

Lionel wanted to give the knife to Martha but she turn around.

Lionel: I will die, it’s sure, but you can to be free. Martha…

She doesn’t reply to him.

Lionel: I can’t do it myself.
Martha: I can’t leave to this place without you.
Lionel: I can’t let you die for nothing.

Martha looks at Lionel.

Lionel stumbles on Martha and he slips on the ground. The knife was drive on his belly. Martha kneels down next to him.

Martha extracts the knife to Lionel injury and she put her hand for stop the haemorrhage.

Martha: Don’t leave me! Lionel…
Kole: It’s too late Senator.

Martha gets up and ardently cries.

Martha: Shut up, SHUT UP!!! You are just a coward! A coward behind his screen! Are you afraid to a woman?! So why don’t you come here! I think we should explain something’s together!
Kole: You should shut up, or you will regret to say that…
Martha: I’ll not!! Look! (She drop the knife to her hand) I’m unprotected! What do you risk?

The screen turns off. Martha gets surprised and afraid: he’s coming. A short moment after a door opens behind Martha. She turns around, scared.

Kole: So Senator, I’m a coward?
Martha: Of course you are! I’m a woman half- groggy!
Kole: Poor girl…

Lincoln Kole walk to Martha and she move back.

Kole: So, you need explanations? What do you think about this?

He slaps her on her face and takes her by her collar.

Kole: I haven’t time to lose with you!
Martha: But you’re here, to prove me that you not chicken!

He pushes her against the wall.

Martha strikes him with her knee on his member. She punches him on his face and she thrust him away from her. She tries to fight him again but he takes her by her hair and draws her next to the water.

Kole dive Martha’s head on the water and let her a moment, he draw her out of the water any time.

Kole: Tell me how you had survived the last time!
Martha: You’re dreaming…

Martha: Go to hell!

He drives again her head on the water and let her at this way. Martha feels her strength leaves her but a horrible dolour on his back makes him to release her head. Martha get away form him. Kole fall down on the water, the knife on his back. Lionel was standing next to the water. He looks at Martha a last time and fall down on the ground, unconscious.

Marthalooks at the light which is coming to a door. Kole comes by this door but behind this there is free.

Lionel was elongated on a hospital bed. Martha was next to him, she’s crying. Anybody comes on the room, it’s Clark.

Clark: Mum, I have just learned what happen… you’re ok?

Martha lightly shakes her head and Clark sees the marks on her neck.

Clark: What is it?
Martha: Very nothing, just a bad memory…
Clark: Mum?
Martha: He tried to kill himself for save me, again… He didn’t know that the gun wasn’t laded… He can take his life for me.
Clark: He changed…
Martha: and I love him, Clark…

Clark didn’t reply to his mother, he knows that Martha loved Jonathan but she’s a woman, she want to live. She wants to be happy, again. Clark looks at Lionel and he silently hope he will be fine. Clark kisses her on her cheek and goes out of the room.

A week passes and Lionel didn’t wake up. Martha was very distraught because she knows he can die, the doctors tell it to her but she couldn’t stop to hope. She loses Jonathan, she fell like she was going to die, and if Lionel dies she doesn’t know how she could to be happy again.
Every day, she comes to the hospital. Every day she takes his hand. Every day she cries. This day Clark oblige her to sleep a little because it’s starting to be so hard to see her like that, he’s under the impression that his he die again.

Free? How she believed she will be free if she get out of the dark room but she doesn’t. She feels like on a glass prison. Sometimes she was sure to be dead; sometimes she thinks that she knows what the hell is. To see the man who she desperately in love with to be at death’s door, it’s like if she was in hell.

Alone on the farm, Martha drink coffee, thinking about how her life could to be with Lionel. Lionel… She had just thoughts for him these days, and she will always have thoughts for him…
Her phone ring and startling her.

Martha: Yes, who is it?
Doctor: Mr. Luthor’s doctor.

Martha feels everything fall down around her, she was sure, it’s the end and she stop to hope.

Martha: What happened? (Her voce was quavering)

She couldn’t believe that. She run out of the house and go on her car.

She arrived to the hospital she runs to Lionel’s room. But a nurse stops her.
Nurse: I’m sorry, but you must wait.

Doctor: nothing, you can come.

The doctor gets out of the room and let Martha alone with Lionel. She comes next to him. He smiles to her.

Lionel: I’m back.

Martha approaches her face to him and their lips finally meet after all this time. His lips formed a smile against hers as her eyes fluttered open delicately.

Martha: I missed you…
Lionel: But I’m back just for my love.
Martha: and it’s me?
Lionel: No… you, you are my life.

They kiss again and Martha hugs Lionel. In his arms she thinks she will be the happiest woman on the world, again.


It’s just one month after Lionel get out of the hospital. He doesn’t wait for invite Martha on the more romantic restaurant of Metropolis, just for ask her one thing, a thing which will changed their life.

He kisses her a last time before to takes her hand and a wonderful diamond ring.

Lionel: We have gone through a lot of things together… I have nearly lost you, and I can’t risk it again. So… Martha Clark Kent, I want you to marry me…
Martha: and I will…

The dream become true, Lionel slide the ring around Martha finger, and gives her a passionate kiss.

Lionel go back to his office just before have dinner. He wanted to be alone and sleep a little, he was exhaust. Today, it was his birthday but it doesn’t change anything, it was an ordinary day, he was just older. Lionel sits down at his desk and his phone ring. Lionel wanted to turn of it but he see Martha’s name on it.

Lionel: Martha?
Martha: Lionel, I hope you haven’t organized something for your birthday?
Lionel: Nothing, but you remember to my birthday?
Martha: Of course! I have something for you.
Lionel: Thanks Martha, I will go see you tomorrow.
Martha: It’s useless… I’m here.

Lionel gets surprise and she rings off.

The doors of his office open and Martha comes on. She has a cake with candles on her hands.

Martha (sinning): Happy birthday to you, happy birthday you Lionel…

She continues to sing and Lionel joins her. When she finishes the little customary song, she asks him to blow out the candles. Lionel does it but a candle stay alight. Martha blow out of it and smiles.

Martha: Nobody see it, make a wish!
Lionel: It’s done… You make it?
Martha: Yes…
Lionel: It’s seemed delicious.
Martha: Thanks… but before eat it, I have anything for you?

Martha gives a package to Lionel. He put the cake on his desk and opens it, there is a tie.

Lionel (laughing): Oh thanks!
Martha: You’re welcome… but it’s not the more interesting.

Lionel finds a beautiful watch on the bottom to the package.

Lionel: Oh Martha… I… It’s beautiful.
Martha: I know you can buy one more expensive but the best gift come from the heart.
Lionel: It does will be sentimental.

Lionel put on the watch on his wrist.

Lionel: I never celebrate my birthday; it’s nice to you, Martha.
Martha: I have thought we can spend some times together tonight.
Lionel: It’s a good idea.
Martha: and I have an other gift for you.
Lionel: Martha, I think it’s enough.
Martha: It didn’t cost me anything.

Martha draw nearer to Lionel and she looks at him on his eyes. She sweetly slides her hand on his cheek and he doesn’t move. She put a little kiss on his lips and looks at him. He smiles.

Lionel: Nothing more?

Martha smiles too and they passionately kiss. Lionel is savouring her lips. He was sure that she can’t imagine how he waits for one of her kiss. Lionel doesn’t think about something else than Martha. He can lose everything, money, Luthorcorp, if Martha is with him, he will be happy.
Martha couldn’t realize that she kisses an other man than Jonathan but it’s so much supernatural. She always had feelings for Lionel, since her work for him, he’s like her. He had grown up in Metropolis. He’s a business man, she not became a business woman but deeply on her she always be.

Martha: I think I regret what I said at Thanksgiving: with a kisser like you, I will was ready quickly. Are you a lady-killer?
Lionel: It’s not me, they were jealous to you.

Martha laughs and kisses him again and stays on Lionel arms.

Martha: I think I rally love you Lionel Luthor.
Lionel: Repeat…
Martha: What?
Lionel: This last thing…
Martha: Oh… I love you, I love you, I love you, I…

Lionel ardently kisses her. Martha feels the desire comes, she put away her jacket and undo Lionel tie… before put away all of their clothes except the watch.

Lois and Martha just arrived to the enormous gala. The two women were very beautiful, Lois wearing a long black dress and her hair was drawing on a tight bun. Martha having a long and wonderful red silk dress, she has a low neckline which let place for a beautiful diamond necklace. The dress was figure-hugging and having a vent on the side and we can see long and slim Martha’s leg.
Her and Lois was going at their table but Lois see Chloe and Jimmy walked at their direction.

“Hey, Chloe! Jimmy” Lois said when she takes her cousin in her arms.

“I’m happy to meet you but I had didn’t think to see you here.” Martha adds with a smile.

“I must take some photos and I was allowed to go here with somebody” Jimmy reply. “Mrs. Kent. I must to tell you that… you’re very beautiful tonight.”

“Oh, well… Thanks!”

They continue to talk about everything but Martha sees Lionel coming above Jimmy shoulder. He notices her and he gives her a sign. She slowly walked in his direction as her face broke into a radiant, knowing smile and he smiled back, struck by her beauty.
She was wonderful. When Martha arrives in front of him, Lionel didn’t say anything. He just looks at her.

“Hi Lionel, I have thought that will not come.” Martha teases him.

“I shouldn’t miss a so ravishing woman!” Lionel reply.

“Thanks… I need an elegant man for dance with me.”

“I’m later, so we can dance now”

“Yes but… we will dance later too”?

“With you, I can dance all the night Martha.”

Martha laughs with Lionel and he takes her hand. Lionel draws Martha in the middle of the dance floor where the couples already were in motion. Lionel slowly slides his hand on her waist and they start to dance. Lionel was lost on the two sapphire blue of Martha’s eyes.

Lois was looking at them. She doesn’t know everything about Lionel and she doesn’t thrush him but when she sees Martha with him, when she sees a lovely smile, she’s sure she was happy. Martha loves her new job, she loves her son but she misses Jonathan. Lois know that Lionel is the only man who can forget her forget him, Clark know it too. It’s for this that he doesn’t like Lionel because maybe her mother can have a lot of feelings for him.
Jimmy let Chloe and Lois alone. Chloe notices that Lois was watching at Lionel and Martha on the dance floor.

“Mrs. Kent is very close at Lionel Luthor now.” Chloe said.

“She is, but I don’t if it’s good or bad. Lionel look nice with her but I sure he doesn’t wait just friendship from her.”

“Maybe it’s not bad.”

“Maybe… Maybe not, I’m sure she feels anything for him. Can you see how she’s looking at him?”

Chloe doesn’t reply at her but she’s right. Martha was looking into Lionel’s eyes like her when she looks at Clark’s.

Martha was very near to Lionel. She put her head on his shoulder. He feels her breath on his neck. Martha closes her eyes smelling his aftershave. She was very afraid if he couldn’t come because tonight she will tell him her true feelings. She doesn’t see Lionel like a friend anymore and she loves spend her time with him because she loves him.
